Sean Kerklaan speaking at GROW

This morning when I sat down at my desk to reflect on my two days at the BetaKit  2013 GROW Conference, I realized that I couldn’t pinpoint a single favourite moment.

For a start-up company like ours, GROW Conference is one of the most unique opportunities in Canada to network with other startups and entrepreneurs from around the world and to learn from some of the brightest minds in the technology community. It opens your eyes to the latest developments within the technology community and inspires you to push the boundaries within your own company.

Over the past two days I learnt from Google Ventures on rapid five day prototyping, from PR experts about how to properly pitch your story to get coverage and I’ve met industry influences way out of my reach that has grown my network 10x.

Now in it’s forth year, GROW Conference is a three-day event held here in Vancouver aiming to connect companies who are focusing on building their business for the future and brings to together more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, startups and investors from around the world.

It’s part of a push by both startups and the government to make Vancouver one of the top tech cities in the world, and perhaps help bolster another company like Hootsuite, the local social media company recently valued at $1-billion.

Fatigue Science in the GROW Conference Startup Smackdown

This year we were lucky enough to participate in GROW in the Startup Smackdown. Held on the final day of the GROW conference, the Startup Smackdown is an opportunity for startups to pitch their company in one minute or less to top press and investors from across North America.

Although it is utterly terrifying to pitch in front of the some of the brightest and most successful minds in the business, the whole process was extremely exciting and throughly rewarding.
